Vintage SITTING SCOTTY DOG Plush Toy Mohair, Possible Steiff, Scottish Terrier

  

I bought this vintage mohair Scottie dog in an antique mall several years ago. Steiff Scotties are found most commonly in the standing pose but their sitting Scottys are a much rarer find. This endearing plush dog is made of gray mohair with very distinguished salt and pepper coloring. He has brown glass eyes, stitched nose, a red leather studded collar and a swivel head. Scotty no longer has any ID.

I looked closely at his left ear to see if I could find indication of a former button that would indicate he's a Steiff but there is no visible hole or puncture mark, although detached buttons frequently don't leave any mark behind. He smells fresh and clean. He measures approximately 9" from the bottom of his paws to top of his head and 10 1/2" from the base of his tail to the tip of his nose. Thanks for viewing my listings!
