VTG 1985 Wonder Whims Purple Butterfly Boo Doll, Plush Stuffed Animal Toy, RARE

  

This Wonder Whims purple butterfly, "Butterly Boo", is pre-owned and has been thoroughly played with and loved. It has gone through the washer and dryer, had its tag cut off, been cuddled, and taken many imaginary flights held by tiny hands. There are signs of wear, including small holes on the bottom and markings on the face.

This is a vintage plush and the signs of wear and age are there, but also a part of what makes it so special. This listing is for the doll only.

Wonder Whims were created by Doug & Debby Hennings. They were produced in 1985 by Marvin Glassin/Panosh Group. I don't know the story of this plush before I had it, but I can tell you that 13 years ago, I was an anxious pregnant woman about to have her first baby when this darling Butterly Boo came into my life. Wanting my daughter to be surrounded by magic and whimsy, I decorated her nursery with an enchanted nature theme.

This doll was hung from the ceiling in view of the crib, and once my child was born, she would often smile and giggle while looking at Butterly Boo smiling back at her. Eventually, the doll was taken down so it could be played with. As my child grew, Butterly Boo was played with less, and at some point, was placed into a tote with other toys in a spare closet.

When I rediscovered this doll, the moment was bittersweet. She doesn't belong unseen in a tote.

It's time to let her go, so another home can appreciate her and so that I can pay the electric bill.
